While potentially a non-traditional route to engage in Football/Soccer Data Analytics, the future of sports - training, performance, recovery, and fan engagement - increasingly relies on new immersive and interactive technologies. As a Foote Fellow at the University of Miami, I was able to merge computer engineering, computer science, math, and cutting edge Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality (VR/AR/XR) technology courses to develop a program of study that built the foundation for success as a soccer analyst while preparing me to use, incorporate, and apply new generational technologies and metrics that are even now enhancing soccer training, performance, mental health, and injury recovery. My MS in Immersive Media Communications at the University of Oregon allowed me to use data to develop code transforming video into a 360-Degree match platform for immersive video analysis and training, while also providing a foundation in sports business and analysis.

My professional interests in soccer/football analytics directly relate to my passions for learning, creativity, and community. The Beautiful Game cannot be minimized purely to numbers. Individual creativity, skill, and motivations, as well as the complexity of interactions between players, coaches, styles, theories, and tactics, all play into what and how data can be used to enhance player and team performance. Integrating my academic training, data analytics training, background as a scholar athlete, coaching experience, and penchant for theoretical discussions in football/soccer (relational vs. positional, game theory, systems thinking, cognitive psychology, ethics) allows me to listen, assess, analyze and provide needed data through traditional, and new functional and interactive visualizations, descriptions, and mediums to better apply analytics to real-world training and performance.

Immersive Match Analysis Platform
IMAP is a VR-based match analysis tool developed from my graduate research, allowing users to experience football matches from a player’s perspective using tracking data. Built with Unity, Python, and C#, it offers immersive features like player POV, dynamic visuals, and customizable analysis tools — revolutionizing how coaches, analysts, scouts and players review and learn from game footage. Portland Timbers Analysis
Portland Timbers show promise with fluid, non-positional attacking play and diagonal combinations — highlighted by Santiago Moreno’s movement. Moreno excels dribbling on the left but contributes more overall when free to roam from the right and is the key to creating dangerous opportunities. He excels most when free-roaming rather than situated out on the wing or the half-space. Influence of Pressing on Pass sequences
Analysis of Japan’s J1 League reveals that high pressing leads to more quick-shot opportunities, supporting the idea that pressing intensity and field position strongly influence shorter pass sequences before shots and goals. More
Bayer Leverkusen Defensive Analysis
Bayer Leverkusen’s disciplined defensive shape and pressing in a 3-0 win over Mönchengladbach limited central penetration and high-quality chances, especially in the first half. Even with reduced intensity after halftime, Leverkusen maintained control and secured a dominant result. More
Academic & Professional Experience
My diverse background has equipped me with a strong foundation in knowledge, analytical methods, research, and critical thinking skills. Combined with a strong work ethic, curiosity for learning, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine enjoyment of dynamic, team-oriented collaboration, I quickly adapt to new environments and contribute effectively as part of a team.
